Getting Dirty

Tonight Dirty on Purpose will play at Mercury Lounge at 9pm tonight. I can’t wait to see them because every time I do, they top themselves. DoP knocks my socks off every time, when was the last time you had your socks knocked? That’s what I thought, see you at Mercury Lounge.

Whale of a tale

exploding whale
This is the oddest story I’ve heard in a week. I didn’t know whales could explode, but this article given to me by Jumee proves me wrong!

Give Me a Break

Give me a break has recently become one of my favorite sayings. There is just so much to roll my eyes at, like having to work today. But, here are some of the recent things that have made me pissed:

I’ve been hearing that cheesey pop song “Why can’t I breathe” a lot lately. Figuring it was sung by any number of no-talent teenie boppers, I didn’t give it a second thought. When I found out it was sung by none other than Liz Phair, I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Once I cleaned the vomit from my throat, I had to ask, is this really the same girl who sang “I’ll fuck you till your dick is blue?” What a sad day for music and especially Ms. Phair.

Last night’s Real World San Diego had several things that annoyed me. First of all, any man that calls the cops on a girl for punching him in the arm is a giant pussy. Also, what a lame way to get on TV! Secondly, the cops in San Diego really need something better to do with their time. Lastly, Frankie needs her vagina sewn shut, because she is such a dirty hooker. Seriously, just break up with your boyfriend if you want to cheat on him that much.

I just saw the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s video for Maps, the only song of theirs I can stand, and what a fucking snooze! Come on, guys try just a little bit, or else MTV will have to take that “Buzzworthy” title away from you.

The good news is, I only have 8 more days at work and then I’m heading to sunnier locations. Quitting is the best feeling! Everyone should quit their job today.

Take This Job….

Well, I quit my job today!! I will be officially done with the music industry Feb 6th. I will be pursuing another passion of mine — FOOD. I am going to the French Culinary Institute very soon to become a pastry chef. So, in honor of my new life, I am starting a new section on my website for recipes. I’ll let you know how to make tasty treats to impress friends or poison enemies.

Don’t worry, I’ll still be covering shows, but mostly eating.

+1

Last night at Don Hills many of New York’s great musicians and industry folks came together to support +1’s launch. To everyone’s delight, Stellastarr* did a surprise show. They always have amazing energy and last night was no exception, inspiring a small mosh pit near the stage. I finally got to see the “My Coco” video because during their performance, Don Hills played both of their videos repeatedly. It was a very special night. Thanks +1!

Party!!!

Tonight is the launch party for +1!!! It should be a great time, Inouk is playing. I’ve only seen them once, but they are quite good.

Sorry!!

I made a mistake, nothing is official with the Dresden Dolls. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I got some bad information.

Oh Dear

It’s true I watch the OC; it’s a guilty pleasure. Last night’s episode made me hopping mad. I mean, obviously Oliver is a crazy a-hole, but why did Ryan have to get all crazy, too. I wanted to throw a wet bag over his head and lock him in a closet the whole episode.

Sorry for the rant. I hope I don’t lose credibility for being an OC fan.

VICIOUS

Vicious is tonight at Sin-e and it should be a good one. You should go.
8:00 The Information
9:00 The Inmen
10:00 Madison Strays
11:00 Runner & the Thermodynamics
12:00 This Blue Holiday

I’m sure Runner… will bring out the weasels, so if you’re in a band, it would be a good place to schmooze.

Asobi Seksu

I got to see Asobi Seksu on Friday night at Mercury Lounge. It was really great to see them there! They sounded really good and the crowd was great. Melody Nelson, Dennis (realistics), some of the fellows from Stellastarr*, Ms. Lindsayism, Mr. Whatevs, and Jasper were among some of their supporters.

I love their new songs and I really hope that after the re-release of their album in March they will record an EP for all the kids dying to have new Seksu songs coming out of their speakers.

Photos coming soon, promise! In the meantime, check out jenyk.com
