Ode to Jacko

I’m at work listening to Michael Jackson’s Number Ones. I have to say that it is probably the best Michael Jackson compilation to date. I love me some Michael Jackson, but I’m not sure if I love him more now that he is a weird-o perv or when he was the awesome pop star. Either way, he’s fascinating to me — am I the only one who feels this way?

Seksu on Tape

One of my favorite bands, Asobi Seksu, is doing a music video!! The video is for “Walk on the Moon” and is directed by Casseus. They always have killer artwork for their posters (courtesy Sean McCabe), so I can’t wait to see the video.

January 16th is their next show-it’s at Mercury Lounge. Also, they are having a CD release party in March. Lots going on with this amazing band! Stay tuned to hear what else they have coming up!

iPod

Apple is coming out with a new iPod; one that I may be able to afford! It will come in 5 shiny colors & hold about 1,000 songs. It will set you back $249, the cheapest version yet. Start saving your pennies!

I Say Hello

Au Revoir Simone is a brand-spanking new band, who I happened to check out last night. They have only been together some 2 months. In those 2 months, they have crafted some beautiful music. I especially liked their instrumental songs, which is a big deal because I usually don’t like instrumentals. There is room for them to grow and I can’t wait to see what they will do with some more experience under their belt.

These three girls have sweet voices, good harmonies and catchy tunes. I would recommend seeing them the next time they play.

Sorry I don’t have pictures up — I’m still working out the kinks on my site!!

Lord of the Rings

I finally got to see Lord of the Rings on Sunday. I was so excited to see it. I thought it was amazing! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time — all 3 1/2 hours of it. Some people were bothered by the ending, or should I say 5 endings, but I have to say I was glad to have the closure.
Out of all the Rings, this one was the most homo-erotic. I really wanted to see things work out between Frodo & Sam, especially during the pillow fight at the end.
Thank you Peter Jackson. Thank you Lord of the Rings for all the memories.

DoP

Congratulations to Dirty on Purpose for winning the Suicide Girls show. That is H-O-T.

2003

I was going to write a best of 2003, but there are far too many people to mention. So, I’m moving onto the next year, but before I do, there is something I need to get off my chest:

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Fever to Tell” was by far the most disappointing album I have heard all year, save maybe the Rapture. The only song that didn’t make me want to claw at my ears is Maps, which is a fantastic song.

I know I’m probably the only one who thinks so, but I couldn’t stand to read any more about how fantastic that album is without commenting. Sorry kids!
