New Life

Well, I started my first day of culinary school. I now know how to peel apples like nobody’s business. But, I also got to make a tart dough. I’m excited about my new venture.

It’s been a while since I had some quality time in the city and I haven’t been otu & about. I feel so out of touch after only 2 weeks of being off my job. Sorry to everyone I have not seen in a while.

Soon, with Ned’s help I am going to turn this site into a place for my recipes, craft ideas, and gardening tips. Martha Stewart doesn’t have anything on me!!

New England

I’m finally back in town and ready to catch up with all my friends in New York. Boston is a fun little town, but I have a warning — -DO NOT GET A TATOO FROM TRIBAL WAYS!!! They do a terrible, horrible, sloppy job. They are incompetant. You have been warned.

Portsmouth is possibly the best little quaint New England town. They have some fantastic seafood and a very young and surprisingly hip population. The Friendly Toast is one of my favorite diners in the country and it is located in downtown Portsmouth. Not only do they have an amazing menu (and everything is delicious) but they have a great atmosphere. Be sure to check it out if you go up that way.

In other news, I think this website is going to change drastically soon. I’m still thinking about it…. Tonight is my orientation for the FCI and Monday is my first class. Very exciting stuff! I hope to catch up with all my friends before I disappear into a food black hole and come out 9 months and 400 pounds later.

LA Hrumph

I just got back from LA. That’s a pretty lame town if you ask me. But, the weather was nice and it was good to see all my old friends there.

I went to Spaceland on Monday night and saw Juliette Lewis’ band The Licks. Dear God, it was horrifying and hilarious. Ms. Lewis was staggering around and headbanging like a retard, dressed in a police outfit. In between songs she said things like, “this is for you guys that watch too much porn” and “I am the unloved I am the unwanted.” Give me a break. Puke. However, Linda Perry and Johnny Rotten (yikes!) were both present at the train-wreck of a performance. She doesn’t have a bad voice, but it the lyrics were so cheesey and the music so blah.

Sunday night was the Grammys. Big whoop. It seemed that all the afterparties were at fast food restaurants. I saw Steven Tyler at In & Out burger, stepping into his limo & there were some other rockers in the joint chowing on the legendarily delicious burgers. Steven eats his animal-style. There was also a party going on at Astro burger just down the street. Good times.

Tomorrow I’m off to Boston & New Hampshire, so I’ll be updating you kids later. Don’t forget to go to Sin-e on Friday night to see Asobi Seksu.

Dearest Annabiotica

I am ever so sorry to be a schmuch and not go to your show tonight. Please forgive me. Everyone else should mosey on down to Northsix tonight to see Knife Skills play. Good luck!!

Pas/Cal

Miss Jinners let me borrow her Pas/Cal CD & I’m so glad she did. Ever since I saw them at the living room during CMJ, I’ve been hankering for another listen. They sound so beautiful — like Belle & Sebastian with a splash of Beach Boys. In a perfect world, everyone would buy a copy and they would come back to New York to play and I would marry the whole band and keep them in my basement and force them to play for me all day long. Maybe not, but everyone should in fact buy a copy.

I was watching some music television last night and saw the Darkness video for like the 100th time. I have to say, it is the most genius video I have seen in some time. It never fails to make me laugh. I believe in a thing called laser-shooting guitars.

Dirty, Dirty & Sunshine

Dirty on Purpose did not disappoint on Friday night!! (They never do). Check out jinners for some photos of the evening. I want to give a thank you to the good people at Uncle Ming’s on Ave B for giving me free drinks and getting me shitfaced after the DoP show. Good God.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see DoP with the Suicide Girls this friday. Call me crazy, but I can’t wait to see hot chicks do a little strip tease.

After this week, I’ll be sunning my ass in LA. I can’t wait to go on my fucking vacation. Actually, I started the fucking vacation this weekend, and it will continue on in LA, Boston (squeeze Presley & Ned’s asses) and New Hampshire. God Bless America!
